New stuff!

Nautical clothes have been everywhere, on the runways, streets, EVERYWHERE. And why shouldn't they? There is a nautical peice for everyone. A striped shirt, a sailor dress, brogues (my personal fave). This Victoria's Secret top has been in several magazines and frankly, I adore it. The gold shoulder detail is pretty but subtle. Horizontal stripes don't have to be widening, as long as you wear them with slimming bottoms, or break them up with a cardigan or vest. I would wear this with dark skinny jeans and delicate gold bangles.
Now this dress isn't nautical, but it is certainly everywhere. Beloved by celebrities and magazines everywhere, this Rebecca Taylor dress is super girly, but can easily be boho or downtown with the addition of brown boots and a fringe bag, or bronze gladiators and an oversize blazer.

Trust me with these, they look crazy but if you have confidence these can be totally normal. Plus, the multicolored sparkle will go with any color.

Interesting Sights

Today Sephora opened up near me and I was ecstatic. I went with friends, who are always good for talking you out of buying yet another lip gloss, and bought some lovely products. Nothing like buying makeup to make you happy! On the way back I saw a lovely coat. It was a simple black coat except for one detail. A gold sequin panel on the side. It was a lovely detail but i wonder how she could wear it everyday in the winter. Is it easy to wear a distinct coat or a simple one. A simple one won't interfere with your outfit but an interesting one could brighten your day up considerably.
Things like these make Friday even better!

Oscars Part 1: Who I liked

I'm not going to assault you with my comments this time, it'll be short and to the point(mostly).First, who I liked.

Next, Kristen Stewart, I saw her smiling a lot which I loved, but I couldn't find a good picture of both her dress and smile. C'est La Vie. I love how feminine this Monique Lhuiller is while the color was pretty serious. Click on the image for a Better look at the color.

Zoe Saldana was even better than I expected. The Givenchy Haute Couture was unexpected and exciting. There were many elements and colors but they worked without being too much. Please click on the image because it is truly stunning.

Vera Farmiga a devotee of neutrals, wore the most beautiful Red or pink, I couldn't tell. The ruffling on her Marchesa was stunning and she might have been my favorite of the night.

The color of Gabourey Sidibe's dress was perfect. Marchesa was a great choice.

There were more, but these are some of my faves, check out Amanda Seyfried, Carey Mulligan and Sandra Bullock for more of my loves.

Been popping cheerios like a toddler

First of all, Rest in peace artistic genius Alexander Mcqueen.

Now, I hope everyone heard We Are The World. I heard it two days ago and then remembered it today because it started playing while I got a long needed manicure (Essie-Jam n Jelly:The best color ever! Bright-but-not-neon pink with a purple shimmer.) One nail has chipped a little though :(
I've spent the majority of the last two hours going to the computer and running back to my room. Damn salmon! I usually love salmon but that smell was TERRIBLE!
I received Elle last night and I was sooo happy! Keira Knightly looks beautiful and the articles are great but what grabbed me was the accessories and makeup. The animal print wedges were to DIE for. Maybe I'm just loving animal print right now. I
want everything animal print now but i have to restrain myself; no prints at school :(
Goodbye, I have to return to reading blogs while popping cheerios like a toddler ;)

School

It's hard to accept that school, restarts tomorrow. So I've planned and studied and now what? With only hours left what do I do? Buy the new issue of TeenVogue of course! Jessica Szohr is on the cover and I love her. I love how TeenVogue says it, (this is paraphrased of course) She's beautiful, but not bleached blonde and look at me beautiful. She's real with thick brown hair uncommon among starlets. Her character on Gossip Girl is edgy and different than the people she finds her old friend hanging out with. In real life she's relatively low-key which I love. Since this is the Valentines issue the stuff listed was so girly I melted. Like these Cynthia Rowling rings.
Of course the pink and purple and red were interrupted with refreshingly edgy items. These BC Footwear flats for example.
Bye till (Insert date here)!

Watch this!

I bought a watch two days ago and am loving it. I have lost many a watch by losing them or winding it backwards (never do it) It's blue and beautiful! I've always loved watches and blue (of any kind) is my favorite color. Looking for a watch?
Here are some beauties:

Lulus gold heart ring($22) is beautiful and the last time I had a ring watch I was obsessed.

This lovely two-tone Watch, from Pinkmascara.com by Freelook($270) is a nice interesting watch.

I love this simple watch from Modcloth($23.99). The large numbers and elastic band make it easy to wear everyday with everything.

Also from modcloth ($23.99), This pattern is delicious. "Nuff said.
Have I spanned most price ranges and tastes? Leave a comment if I haven't.
Headbands and boot also caught my eye I'll give a few links Thursday.
Bye!

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly 3 weeks ago I arrived home from camp and realized I had 223 posts to read on bloglovin. It terrified me but I persevered and today I have no new blog posts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The feeling of accomplishment overwhelms me!
In fall news I just found out Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte comes out September 1st! It was my favorite drink last winter and I am sooo excited.
In other Fall news some pieces have come to my attention that I just can't live without.
To start, I have been dying to buy a pair of over the knee boots but can't find ones inexpensive enough for me. These ones Are begging on their knees and despite the hefty 129.99 price tag I am drawn to them. I long to feel the luscious black suede against my skin. I want this Blondee bad.
Every women needs one, most have one and yet the perfect one evades me. You know what I'm talking about. I have a white one, a cropped one and still no nice boyfriend blazer. Forever21 make a nice one with a 3/4 sleeve and Charlotte Russe makes a really cool gray one. Alas I must wait.
I need skirts and tights but these are what I am dying to have.

I really love

Luella! The bright colors, millions of minis and prints all call out for my help. They're being deprived of my love and they're begging for me. The optimistic vibe of the designs draws me in.
Let me show you some faves: One of my favorite colors is purple, especially a deep purple plus the rosettes on the first outfit are gorgeous. The print and shoes on the second leave me breathless, but enough talking, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Layering

I've watched tv all day and then I got ice cream (definitely try oatmeal cookie chunk).
Just like many of you, I have mixed feelings about Fall. I love the season and the holidays but going back to school is eh. I already know what I'm being for Halloween and can't wait to buy candy corn. I know many people prefer Summer to any other season but I love Spring and Fall best. They're unpredictable in terms of weather, but I think that makes it all the more fun to get dressed in the morning because you have to layer.
Layering is an everyday thing for many people because it makes life easier. You can be prepared for any weather that might happen. If you layer a few sweaters over a tank because it's cold when you wake up, you can just take a few off if it becomes hotter. Layering also allows you to add personality to boring outfits.
Layer a few necklaces and a scarf over a t-shirt and jeans and you get an outfit that's comfy and shows off your personality. Adding a sweater and belting it can show off your shape.
Adding a belt can often make an outfit. I've heard many people ask about belts and they're pretty uncomplicated if you know two things. Skinny belts look best with thin layers and thicker belts look best with baggy layers. Of course these rules are debatable and sometimes a thicker belt will look nice with thin layers, but when you are picking out a belt it helps if you can narrow down your choices through these rules.
Many magazines and other bloggers have talked about layering because it is fairly common, so I hope you can read what I've written and compare it to other sources.
Have fun! Mwah Mwah!!!!!!!

Je vieux

Since I've come back from camp I'm thinking about everything I want now that I can buy stuff. I have some money and negotiation skills saved up. Some specifics I want are needed but all are awesome.
  • Buying coats is stressful. Especially if you want yours to last all of fall. I prefer pea coats for their variety ans stylish accents. Take this one from Delia's. I love gray and a cropped jacket in a light fabric is great for layering. It also looks great in black.
  • Though winter's approaching I still love my gladiators. These are mine. Perfect for walking, totally stylish and I'm going to wear mine to death since winter is close.
Many other things are racing through my mind...cropped harem pants...grommets...rompers...gray velvet dresses. The list is endless but if you type the phrases into ebay you might find something you like. Au revoir!

What I'm lovin before camp.

I'm going to spill what I'm lovin lately as I can't get anything till, like August.
  • Firstly, I love that I made the cheesecake(1 more hour and we can eat it) but on to clothes and stuff.
  • I'm lovin bold prints for dresses, they look awesome! You can show so much personality by the pattern and cut. Plus, you'll stand out!
  • Florals are another thing I can't get enough of. Floral jewelery, dresses, boots, and more jewelery.
  • Cool tees with look at me sayings are sooo supposed to be mine so if you have one it's technically mine.
  • Unconventional denim is also an awesome. Unexpected but goes with many things.

  • Lastly, polka polka dots and lace are sweet and looking at the makes my day!

stuff

neutrals
from left to right: Claudia one shoulder-net-a-porter, eruca bag(site in Japanese), amazon sneakers, Lori McLean - Connie Verrusio Wide Ruler Ring, eruca shoes, coast stores-lupin bow dress, Gucci skirt, gryphin the fringe jacket-25park, Alice McCall cotton/silk skirt

Lately I've been wild for neutrals! You know, timeless colors you can pair with a bright accessory for an awesome look. I personally like creams and off-whites but my mom likes black better. Leighton Meester and Hayden Panettiere do it perfectly. Leighton Meester has long been an fashion icon of mine. Always perfect.

Well, bye!

Baking etc.

Today I mad chocolate+butterscotch chip cookies and just made sandwiches for our outing to the Thimble Islands. Very fun though our oven mitts are dying. My moms says it will rain in Connecticut but I don't believe her. It's truly summer now! I've considered it Summer since Monday but the last few air-conditioned days prove it. Got a pedicure and gave myself a manicure so I'm feelin properly spoiled. Found this beautiful dress on modcloth for 114.99. *sigh* In my dreams. Been lovin polka dots and the silhouette of this dress is perfect.

Goodbye and have a fun weekend!

Magazines

Magazines have always had a special place in my bookshelf. My tastes have evolved but I have always followed a few religiously. Currently, I'm in love with Elle and PeopleStylewatch. I also follow Seventeen and TeenVogue but I don't love them the same way. Today however, I desperately needed a magazine and had already gotten my normals so I got Lucky. I've always loved the covers but was hesitant to buy them because of all the others. Now that I've read my first one though I think I'm hooked! It's informative and filled with lots of great sites and items on the glossy pages. I love how they styled Diane Kruger for the cover shoot! This weekend has been filled with treats. Today I bought a vest I've been meaning to buy for a year (no kidding). Yesterday my mom came home with some black fringe sandals and a lower, strappier version of my heels that were approved by my chiropractor. I'm crazy about them both and even went biking in my vest and sandals. I went biking in my dress and sandals which was dumb as I didn't know how cold it was. Almost like torture when it started drizzling. Last night we watched part of the documentary Religulous with Bill Maher. It's truly genius and we're finishing it tonight with salt and vinegar chips and Bertie bots every flavor beans. I'm not very religious though I do celebrate a variety of holidays so his logic makes sense to me.

Well mon amies, until tomorrow.

May 15, 2009

shoes

For a long time now I've been dying for a pair of stacked heel sandals:

and I've been wanting booties for the longest time say, these perhaps:

or these

Alas, my moms a true "no heels till your 21" type(okay I've had a few wedges and my black patent leather t-strap heels).
Au revoir mon amies, Happy Friday

OMG, House

Just finished the season finale of House and GOD it is was amazing! The twists were crazy! If you haven't seen the season you must! I went to the orthodentist and unfortunately I have to wear rubber bands. I Hate rubber bands, they hurt and the schedule of changing them is ridiculous. I guess I'll have to bear through it, they'll be off soon. At least Summer is soon, ahhhhh. pus camp which I'm looking forward to( I'll explain camp another time).

Adios amigos!

Bye Bye Birdie

At this moment I am watching bye bye birdie and it's wonderful. Ann Margaret is sensational and the costumes are lovely! I love the scene where Birdie first comes to sweet apple, the club scene with Hugo and Kim, and the scene where Rosie goes to Club Maude. They are such great dance numbers not to mention the songs are great. This made me think of another great movie; West Side Story. Both are terrific and if by some chance you haven't seen these wonderful films, see them now!!!!!
